Operational Planner
Track and Structure Department
Reporting to the Senior Operational Planner, you are responsible for consolidating all scheduling activities and the tactical implementation of project/work activities associated with repair/replacement/rehabilitation projects in the Subway/SRT environment (including carhouse and yard locations).
You will also:
- Coordinate, develop, monitor and update a dynamic list of work activities affecting the Subway/SRT environment
- Utilize standard scheduling techniques in order to help ensure all tasks are prioritised, resource constraints and other limitations are identified, and seek solutions to potential conflicts
- Work closely with all stakeholders and senior management in achieving a realistic set of expected objectives
- Be required to substitute for the Senior Operational Planner during periods of absence
Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer. Annual Salary Range: $ 69,305.60 - $86,668.40 (Level 9) Under Review
Skills/Knowledge/Experience
You require knowledge of project management principles, track/tunnel/structure construction/rehabilitation methods, combined with knowledge of all relevant legislation and policies (e.g. Occupational Health & Safety Act, environmental compliances etc.) You must have experience in the analysis of construction schedules involving complex projects plus a good understanding of the tactical construction restraints involved with subway tunnel projects. You must be fully conversant with MS-Suite software applications, and have particular expertise with MS Project scheduling software. You must possess sound judgement, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, well developed organizational and administrative skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. These abilities would generally be acquired through a university degree in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent) combined with project management work experience in the construction industry. Knowledge of the Commission’s budgeting process and technical knowledge of the TTC’s subway track/tunnel network combined with knowledge of the trades associated with track/structure repair activities would be valued assets. You must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees. As the successful applicant, you may be required to attend and complete various in-house TTC training courses as defined by management for effective supervision, as well as safety, environmental and other technical courses relating to areas of responsibility
