Cooper Bussmann, a division of Fortune 500 Company, Cooper Industries, the world’s leading manufacturer of fusible circuit protection devices, has opportunities for Field Application Engineers (FAEs) in the Southern California area.
Cooper Bussmann is an international profit center of Cooper Industries serving the electrical power, electronic, automotive, and consumer fuse markets.
The primary focus for this position is to create demand for the sale of Division product by driving specifications for Cooper Bussmann products at targeted OEMs, Consulting Engineers, Design-Build Contractors, and End Users. The position will also provide training for our sales force on Division products and overcurrent protection applications, and how to make presentations on products, applications, and electrical safety. The position will also work with targeted codes and standards leaders and develop sales materials/articles, as assigned.
Reporting to the Vice-President Technical Sales (or Mgr. North American Electrical Technical Sales), the Field Application Engineer is responsible for:
· Identifying and influencing target accounts. This is accomplished by analysis of territory markets and accounts, then developing a sales funnel based upon best opportunities to maximize Division product sales.
· Convincing OEMs, Design-Build Contractors, Consulting Engineers, and large, influential Users to specify the Division’s products. This is accomplished through both one-on-one and group presentations of the benefits of our products.
· The Field Application Engineer must be an expert in electrical system design, OEM equipment design, and appropriate codes and standards. The customer must recognize the incumbent as an expert in a short amount of time.
· Training of our sales force.
· Influencing codes and standards leaders by participation in scheduled industry meetings and focused training in one-on-one and group presentations.
· The Field Application Engineer will travel 60-70% within the assigned territory.
FAEs must be seasoned sales professionals, accomplished at making technical sales presentations to individuals and to large audiences. They must be experts in Electrical distribution system/equipment design and construction, application of Division products, including High Speed Fuse applications in Power Conversion Equipment.

Job Requirements:
The minimum requirements for this position are a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (preferably Electrical Engineering) and a minimum of 5 years experience in the Electrical Industry (within a sales discipline). Candidates with a strong knowledge of NEC and/or UL standards preferred.
